Makeup Artists - Week One

Hiya! I hope you're okay!

Today I am starting off a new series on my blog! *insert party popper emoji*
This will be a series of posts that celebrate my favourite makeup artists and enthusiasts! I am kicking off the series with some of my absolute favourite artists off all time. These the artists who have each individually inspired me to up my makeup game. For those of you who don't know, I studied makeup artistry in college and these are the artists responsible.
Without further rambling, let me get into it.
As you read through, click the text links. I'll link you back to all artist's social media channels, and photos of their amazing art.

Of course I am kicking off my list with the absolutely beautiful Sam & Nic from Pixiwoo. I have been watching these sisters for 8 years. EIGHT YEARS. I remember the exact first video I ever watched of theirs. It was a video of Nic doing a purple smokey eye look. I remember I was fascinated that there are people on the internet showing people how to apply makeup. It blew my mind.
These two always have been and always will be two of my favourite people on YouTube. They're genuinely, extremely talented and you can tell they absolutely love makeup and love making videos. They've created some really beautiful, classic looks that continue to completely blow my mind every time.
A personal goal of mine to meet them & chat about makeup some day. LOL gal can dream.

Aww, Wayne. I started watching Wayne Goss around the same time as I started watching Sam & Nic. I remember the first video I watched of his too! It was a flawless skin routine! He is another person that inspired me to go to college and learn the art of makeup for myself. He's so massively knowledgeable and talented. A fountain of skill, I've learned so much from him. He is always doing his own thing too! His channel is unique and I adore his sense of humour. His Instagram is hilarious too, loves a meme this guy.
Sam, Nic and Wayne actually first gave me the 'YouTube Bug' too, back in 2009-ish all I wanted was to be like them and have my own channel. Sometimes I kick myself for not starting back then... but it'll come ;)

Pat McGrath. This woman is a makeup goddess, everything she does just is so unique, innovative and dead-on perfect that I'm pretty convinced she's been given some actual makeup super powers. Pat McGrath has worked with fashion designers such as Alexander McQueen and John Galliano, photos of her work has been featured in i-D, Vogue (American, English, AND French), Harper's Bazaar have also featured her work. She attends global fashion show seasons and works with many top designers. The way she has worked to bring fashion and beauty together has always inspired me. Her Instagram is a must-follow if you're into makeup. Her work is awe-inspiring and mesmerising.

Hrush Acheman is one of my favourite makeup artists right now. Her work ALWAYS looks absolutely flawless. Second to none. The fact that she's a self taught makeup enthusiast, turned entrepreneur and celebrity makeup artist is so inspirational to me. Her list of celebrity clients is absolutely insane, including Kim, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian, Kylie & Kendall Jenner, Karrueche Tran, Giuliana Rancic and many more. Responsible for one of my favourite looks Kylie Jenner has EVER worn, wearing Serenity lipstick by Gerard Cosmetics. Hrush is a queen of creating absolutely flawless, classy looks.
AND SHE'S SELF TAUGHT. All of this stemmed from her bedroom. I love it.
Check out her Instagram for more!

Last but definitely not least is an OG, a legend in these parts, MAC Cosmetic's Director of Artistry, Terry Barber. Terry Barber has been working with MAC for 17 years and is someone I truly look up to in this industry. He states his fascination with makeup came from watching David Bowie blur the boundaries of gender and creating a new kind of beauty. He's worked with Grace Jones, Alexander McQueen, Gucci... I could go on forever.
He takes inspiration from his surroundings. Copper wire, Spilled tea, Sliced ham... everything. That is something I personally try to do myself, so it's not hard to see why I follow Terry's work so religiously. Let me tell you, you NEED to be following Terry on Instagram if you're looking to be inspired. It is truly unique. Like a gorg art gallery.
Watch this video of him too, I loove it.

Soo that concludes my first post for this series, this has been a list of the people I find most inspirational in the industry! From now on, I will be featuring 5 artists who I feel deserve more attention! The post will go up every Saturday and I cannot wait to show some support for this facinating, creative industry.

Till next time...
